A 1.7m wide (5 ft) tarmac footpath has been constructed around the perimeter of the fields, along with improved drainage of the field, all to make the fields fully accessible to everyone throughout the year.
We dedicated the Path to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Eleanor, our Local Councillor with the Street Sign naming part of the path for RDC who gave a grant of £22,500 and kick-started the project.
The Community Fund gave us a grant of £10,000. The process was simple and the team were very helpful in answering our questions.
Painted Stones, Benches, Footpath Sections - members of the Community Sponsored these to add another £12,000 to the funds
Fete, Open Gardens, Coffee Mornings, you name it, you've done it, raising ~ £8,000 in the process.
For your grant of £1,000
And for the great set of map books, available from the Blacksmiths Tea Rooms!
For your grant of £1,000
And for all your work in the Village
The immage may be blurry but our Parish Council has been focussed on helping us with a series of grants towards the drainage and footpath sections, totalling ~£3,000
Through Fetes, ordinary bookings, donations large and small, the regular donations via the Friends Bank Account, the people of our community are who really enable us to give back the wonderful facilities at the Playing Fields.
This is the late, great Jim Smith opening the Pavilion 13 years ago.
The Playing Fields were established 65 years ago as a permanent memorial to the men and women of this village who gave their lives to protect their country in time of war.
They died to preserve the freedom of our nation, the freedom to play, to dance, to celebrate, to sit in peace, to do whatever you want to do here.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.
